What is melatonin?
I’ve got a report here from February 2, 2022. It says Mayo clinic reports that supplements melatonin may help with certain conditions and sleeping disorders. More adults and children today are taking melatonin to fall asleep. Melatonin is a chemical that’s produced in our body primarily by our intestinal tract as a neurotransmitter that helps stimulate a part of our brain called the parasympathetic nervous system. That’s the part of our brain that helps us rest, relax, grow, develop, and heal.
These are inhibiting neuro-transmitters which means they turn down that fight or flight part of your brain. Using melatonin helps us sleep better, rest better, and digest better. Our immune system function and hormones have a better chance of regaining their full veracity. If we’re sleeping, melatonin also does a whole lot for the body. It’s being used for inflammation, improving immune system function, and helping with pain control.
Vitamin D and Melatonin
It’s said that being exposed to light can block melatonin production. So melatonin and vitamin D have this inverse relationship. You have to have the right amount of vitamin D in your body in order for melatonin production to do what it’s supposed to do. So you can take all the melatonin you want, but you should have some vitamin D to go along with it.
Everyone should be taking vitamin D including your kids. Every receptor cell in your body has a receptor site for it. It’s needed for immune system function. You can’t burn fat as fuel unless you’ve got it, and it’s so important for anxiety, depression, insomnia, and so much more.Â

Just be careful because everyone’s body is different. Too much melatonin taken by mouth could give you headaches, dizziness, nausea, and even depression. I’ve not seen it in my practices but it can happen. So make sure you’re only taking what your body can handle.Â
It helps regulate the sleep wake cycle. We’ve had great experience with patients in our practices, for 20 plus years now, who take vitamin D and melatonin at night. Go to our site, freevitamindeal.com, where you can check out all kinds of information about vitamin D and zinc. Knowledge is power but wisdom is taking that knowledge and applying it to your own life. That’s up to you.
